Community Outreach - Philanthropic Programs
Watch Me Grow
The program, "Watch Me Grow From Head to Toe" provides a booklet as a guide for parents of children from newborn to age five. It contains important developmental, nutritional and immunization information.
Private and community agencies give the booklet to parents who have limited access to this kind of information. A grant from the National Library of Medicine, through the University of Texas Health Science Center, enabled ALSA to also develop a web site and provide this booklet online. Both the printed and internet booklets are available in English and Spanish.
In addition, this program financed the printing of "Breaking Away From Violence" pamphlets that were given to the Battered Women's Shelter. These wallet-sized pamphlets provide safety contact information for women who are in danger of abuse.
